After spending a few years living with their initial landscape installation, our clients asked us to help to improve the outdoor living elements of their home. The time spent helped them to bring in to focus the aspects of what was desirable in the existing landscape, as well as what areas needed help. Fortunately, the evergreen trees had grown and provided a sense of enclosure in their neighborhood. The planting arrangement overall provided an attractive xeriscape. But the existing patio, walkway, fire pit, and lighting were lacking.
Our client had a strong sense of design and vision, so we were able to work out details on layout and construction fluidly and as a team. We decided to revamp the existing patio and build in a new barbeque, smoker, seat wall, masonry to match their home with stone caps.
We replaced their portable propane fire pit with a built-in masonry fire feature, and rebuilt the walkway to connect these areas. The existing evergreens provided an excellent opportunity for up lighting. We continued the lighting scheme path and courtyard wall lights to complete the sense of warmth in the newly created area.
Finally, the finishing touches included the selection of a few well thought out plantings to add seasonal interest and color to the newly created space.
