Deck Replacement at Broadmoor Bluffs
For this deck replacement project, we were delighted to collaborate once again with long-time clients in the Broadmoor Bluffs. Over the years, we’ve been privileged to work with them on several projects, and this time, they reached out to us to replace a deck that had succumbed to the effects of time and inferior materials.
Our design process focused on creating a deck that met the clients' priorities: ample space, long-lasting materials, and minimal maintenance. Given their desire to keep the area natural, we encountered a unique challenge—the property’s location within a Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) zone. This regulation, aimed at reducing wildfire risk, requires specific clearances around homes and structures. Our clients were understandably reluctant to part with their mature scrub oak, which contribute to the property’s unique appeal and provide screening and shade. Working closely with the Colorado Springs Fire Department’s Wildfire Mitigation Unit, we demonstrated that the oak are well-maintained large character trees, free of ladder-fuel-free, allowing us to preserve these beautiful trees.
To deliver a deck that aligns with our clients’ vision, we chose Fiberon composite decking and Fortress steel railing. These materials combine durability with aesthetic appeal, creating a zero-maintenance deck that’s built to last. For added ambiance and safety, we integrated low-voltage cap lights on the stairs and rails, bringing the deck to life with a warm, inviting glow after dark.
The result is a stunning, functional outdoor space that our clients can enjoy year-round, with peace of mind knowing their deck is built to last and complements the natural beauty of their surroundings.
