Tucked into the heart of Colorado’s Black Forest, this custom outdoor living project was designed to create a comfortable, welcoming place for a family who loves to gather. Whether hosting friends, church groups, or community events, the goal was a timeless space that feels connected to nature and built to be shared.
At the center is a large wood-burning fireplace constructed from Siloam stone, a natural Colorado material that blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Because of its size and weight, the structure required a reinforced footing and block foundation to ensure long-term stability. Built directly into the existing slope, the fireplace forms a sheltered nook framed by boulders, native grasses, and the forest beyond.
Extending from the fireplace, an expansive Siloam flagstone patio provides ample room for groups of ten or more. The durable stone surface offers both beauty and practicality, supporting everything from large gatherings to relaxed evenings around the fire.
Low-voltage landscape lighting was added to improve safety and extend the space’s usability after dark. Carefully placed fixtures highlight the texture of the stonework, illuminate pathways, and create a warm, understated atmosphere at night.
The finished space feels substantial yet natural — a gathering place that looks as though it belongs exactly where it sits. This project reflects Accent Landscapes’ focus on thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and outdoor environments that are meant to be lived in for years to come.
