This long, narrow front yard sits slightly below the adjacent cul-de-sac, which gave the home a slightly sunken and exposed feel. We were able to design and install a layered landscape that provided function and beauty to the landscape.
The first step was to build a retaining wall in order to provide a level for a small area of lawn for the dog, as well as a place for colorful screening plantings above by the street and sidewalk. Then, large Siloam stone stairs gave solid access from the home to the city walk.
Once the hardscape was complete, we added layered, trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and perennials to give seasonal interest and screening.
