Perched on a ridge looking south from Monument to Colorado Springs, this property offered wonderful opportunities for our clients to meet their needs in their new home. A truly custom home by design deserved to have a landscape that met the needs, wants, and desires as well.
The lot presented a challenge due to slope in front. Fortunately, the building contractor had excavated and was able to supply adequate boulders. These were used not only for leveling the drive area, but for decoration in the landscape as well. The homeowners loved travel in their RV. The driveway and garage configuration was cleverly designed to accommodate their vehicles. We used the creation of berms and plantings to help soften the long, split expanse of concrete.
Because of travel schedules, our clients desired a low maintenance and attractive xeriscape. There were a few screening issues to address as well. Even with a large lot, we were able to pare the lawn size down to just a small area in back for the dog to exercise. On the remainder of the property, we used xeric planting beds, native grasses, and wildflowers to reclaim the disturbed earth and add beauty. A basalt fountain column in back created a focal point as well as pleasant sound. A solid walkway served to tie all the areas together.
The result is a beautiful landscape that blends well with the natural surroundings while providing a colorful, low maintenance landscape. We enjoyed the challenge of designing and bringing this project to life. Please feel free to contact us if we can help you with your dream property.
